This aubergine variety produces shiny, oblong, purple fruits with an excellent taste that is not as bitter as other varieties might be. The Moneymaker No.2 F1 aubergine variety matures early and provides you with an abundant harvest. It is also more tolerant to cooler temperatures than other varieties. Aubergine, or eggplant, can be enjoyed in many ways; use it in vegetable dishes, moussaka, or barbecued.

Aubergine is a heat-demanding plant that is best grown in a greenhouse or polytunnel. It can also be grown outdoors in sunny sheltered areas, but then it will provide a later and smaller crop. It is best grown in nutrient-rich, well-drained soil and it needs regular watering as well as fertilising. Harvest the fruits gradually.

Pre-cultivate 10-12 weeks before replanting outdoors. Sow in damp seed compost and cover with compost and plastic, or use a mini greenhouse. Make sure to keep the seeds moist and place them in a warm area at a temperature of +22°C. Once the shoots appear, place them in a bright, slightly cooler area and use additional lighting in darker months. When plants can be handled, transplant 1 per pot of fertilised soil. You can replant the plants outdoors when the night temperature is a minimum of 10°C.
